Professional Development Committee:
Chair: Janet Briscoe
Attended: Katlen Lyday & Desiree Agustin
Meeting Date(s): 12/28/23, 1/17/24 & 2/2/24
The professional development committee discussed and selected workshops ideas and topics to work on for the spring conference in the January meeting. The topics were divided out and each person contacted individuals about being workshop presenters. The committee met in February to confirm workshops and presenters for the spring conference with times/dates. Individuals got workshops descriptions and bios from presenters for the program. Also, the committee brainstormed ideas and individuals work on getting presenters for March’s membership meeting training.
Networking Committee:
Chair: Janet Briscoe

The networking committee met and reviewed previously sent ideas for networking activity at the spring conference. The committee selected activity and worked on details and materials needed for activity. Also, reviewed networking task-based groups and assigned out facilitating responsibilities and dates for next quarter for each of the 5 groups.
Sunshine Committee:
Chair: Melissa Hill
Attended: Heather Dalton and Melissia Hill
Meeting Date: 3/11/24
DISCUSSION
We will continue with the Bingo game which will be played during the Business meeting on April 29th. POSSESS will get gift cards to serve as our gifts, so we do not have to buy anything out of our pockets.
We will also recognize significant work anniversaries (5, 10, 15 years, etc.) at conference. Members from January through June will be recognized at the spring conference. Members from July through December will be recognized at the fall conference.
The Member Spotlight was sent out with our March birthdays and work anniversaries. It was also published on the POSSESS website. Our first recipient, Connie Smith, looks amazing!
Birthdays and Work Anniversaries
Birthday cards and work anniversary recognitions are going well. No issues reported. Tracy Hall is no longer a part of POSSESS or the POSSESS Sunshine Committee. Heather has graciously agreed to add Tracy’s roster to her list so that she can send cards to our birthdays and work anniversaries.
Membership Committee:
Chair: Ann May
Attended: Christopher Edwards and Ann May
Meeting Date(s): 3/5/24
Promotional materials to increase membership.
• The flyer created last year was reviewed and determined no changes were necessary.
• Waiting for the current membership list. Once received the list will be reviewed to see which agencies have no representatives on POSSESS. The flyers will be sent to both the Director and ASM/OM at the agencies not represented in June prior to 2024/2025 membership opening.
Fundraising Committee:
Chair: Melissa Hill
Attending: Diane Doswell & Melissa Hill
Meeting Date(s): 3/6/24
We have started our spring fundraising project.
• A total of 880 tickets have been requested and distributed among nine POSSESS members, and I am selling in my agency. Our goal is to sell as many tickets as we can before the conference.
• Our fundraiser has been posted on the POSSESS website.
• We will request that Dhaniella bring a $200 check to the Board of Directors’ meeting so that we can purchase the eight $25.00 gift cards before the conference.
• The next step is to work on signage so that our table is attractive and draws people to us. We will also create a schedule of who will work the fundraising table and when. This will hopefully eliminate confusion.
POSSESS State Technology Committee September 2024 Report
DMIS Scanners
The state is attempting top reconcile the number of Fujitsu scanners and Perceptive tokens issued to local agencies. There is a discrepancy of approximately 200 assets. If you have not yet responded to Sherry Brown’s email, please send her your inventory information.
DSS Service Desk
The Network Operations Service Center (NOSC) has been replaced by the DSS Service desk (servicedesk@dss.virginia.gov). They are in the process of automating as many processes as possible. For example, the LDAP passwords can now be reset with an online tool. The Service Center and VCCC staff asked that we remind all Local Security Officers that an employee whose LDAP is suspended due to the mandatory ISRM training deadline will still need the LSO to go into SAMS to clear the training suspension before the employee can reset themselves.
MMIS Systems Access
DMAS would like to clarify that they still require paperwork for access requests to MMIS. The rollout of their new online portal procedure is on hold for now. For Medicaid workers who already have MMIS access, the DSS Service Desk (regular VCCC ticket will be routed to them) can assist with password resets.
Global Protect
If any remote workers are experiencing difficulties with Global Protect, the technicians recommend clearing the cookies and the cache in Google Chrome. If the problems continue, the user may have to uninstall and reinstall Global. This can be done without a ticket or administrative privileges; the download for Global is in the VDSS Software Center:
- On your home screen, go to the Search bar
- Type in Software Center and click to launch
Virtru
There was an issue with Virtru that affected many users last week, and impacted all shared mailboxes. The issue has been resolved; if anyone is still receiving the pop-up error message, they should submit a ticket.
